Huey Jensen Wins the World Championship

Congratulations to William “Huey” Jensen for winning the Magic the Gathering World Championship 2017 with Temur Energy.

The World Championship metagame is always a tricky one. It’s 24 of he best players in one tournament. Huey overcame them with some interesting tech to take down worlds and win the grand prize of $100,000.

First of all, no Chandra Torch of Defiance in the mainboard. Most lists I see play two. Instead there’s Confiscation Coup and Commit // Memory.

I like the Commit // Memory a lot. It resets Longtusk Cubs and delays Hazorets.

That’s also the reason I like Confiscation Coup. Just take a Longtusk Cub or Hazoret. Or even just a Torrential Gearhulk and beat them down with it.

If anyone deserved this win, it’s Jensen. He’s been playing forever, put up results after results, made it into the Hall of Fame, and now finally has been crowned world champion.
